The Bengal Tiger or Royal Bengal Tiger is a subspecies of tiger. The scientific name of this animal is Panthera tigris. These types of tigers are mostly found in South Asian countries such as India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan etc. Royal Bengal tiger is the only animal which is found in Mangrove Forest among all types of tigers. Sleep TimeBengal Tigers sleep and rest between 16 to 20 hours a day. On an average they sleep approximately 15.8 hours a day. In percentage, they sleep 65.8% of a day. They sleep in shady areas like tall grass, rocks or their habitats. Bengal Tiger's EnemiesBengal Tigers have some enemies . They are also predators. But Bengal tiger isn't usually face its enemy because all predators are busy with their prey. But if it faces any of it's enemy then there'd be a fight, which's too dangerous. Reproduction & Average LifespanAlthough tigers can mate through all around the year but they usually mate on between A November to April. Male (Tiger) get their maturity at the age of four to five , while females are little earlier like three to four years. Females enter oestrus state once every three to nine week. In that time they mates frequently to increase chance to conceive.Tigress have a gestation period of 16 weeks. Cubs born with blindness and stay in the den (Tiger's habitat) under the protection of their mothers. They (cubs) stay like this about two months of their lifespan. After 18 to 24 months the cubs are well trained by their mother to hunt food for themselves. An adult Bengal Tiger lives for 10 to 15 years in wild. And in zoo or safari park they live for 20 to 25 years. Oldest Tiger Of the World A tiger named "Guddu" is the oldest tiger found in Kanpur Zoo, India. It died at the age of 26. Apart from it there're "Flavio" (24) and "Ramu" (24). "Machali" tigress was considered world's oldest female tiger, died at the age of 20. Royal Bengal Tiger is a combination of beauty and might. They're like the ornaments of forest. But unfortunately, their numbers have already been decreased so much that they're on the verge of extinction. Necessary and quick steps should be taken to preserve these wonderful animals. Some steps have already been taken by the south asian governments but that's not enough to protect them from extinction.
